Tea Leaf Reading

Telling someone’s fortune through a tea leaf reading is a very basic, but not simple, way of doing so. Tasseomancy is the art of reading someone’s fortune by way of tea leaves, coffee grounds or wine sediment.

In a nutshell, loose tea is poured into a cup and drank by the client. When there is just a little liquid left in the cup, the client holds the cup with the left hand and swirls the liquid clockwise three times. The remaining liquid is poured out into the saucer and the tea leaves that are stuck to the inside of the cup are read.

There are many rituals and techniques surrounding this form of fortune telling. They vary from one tea leaf reader to another. For example, some have the loose leaves dropped into the cup by the client. Others might have the client touch the edge of the saucer at a certain point and make a wish. There are different traditions depending on which culture’s technique you prefer.

Interpreting the Symbols

The symbols or pictures formed inside the cup have meanings attached to them and are based on where in the cup they are left. Since the images they make are subjective to the reader, it’s important for your reader to have strong psychic ability. The reader will be able to use both the symbols and psychic ability to interpret the signs, and determine how they are relevant to the client’s question. This is why a tea leaf reading isn’t as simple as it sounds.

Time Frame

Typically, the reading can see as far out as one month. Images near the rim of the cup will come sooner than those near the bottom.

The following are just a few examples of the possible meanings of the tea leaf symbols.

Bubbles that float to the top of your cup before the reading starts mean money is coming.

If the leaves float to the top of the cup before the reading begins, then visitors are coming.

Palm tree- success

Square- protection, peace

Triangle – something unexpected

The tea cup should be wide-rimmed and white, and the tea leaves should not be too fine or dusty.
